Cyber Security Consultant (Pre-Sales)
Overview
We are seeking a Cyber Security Consultant (Pre-Sales) to serve as a trusted technical advisor between the sales team and clients. This role is responsible for assessing client security postures, designing resilient cyber security architectures, and proposing comprehensive security solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, sales executives, and post-sales delivery teams to ensure solutions are technically sound, aligned with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and accurately scoped for successful implementation.
This position plays a key role in driving technical sales, leading Proof of Concepts (PoCs), and positioning the organization as a trusted cyber security solutions provider.
Key Responsibilities
Security Solution Design & Architecture
- Collaborate with clients to understand business objectives, evaluate current security infrastructure, and identify security gaps or vulnerabilities.
- Design customized enterprise-grade cyber security architectures tailored to client requirements, including High Availability (HA) and redundancy considerations.
- Prepare detailed technical proposals, Bill of Materials (BoM), and Scope of Work (SoW) documentation for project handover and implementation.
Pre-Sales Engagement & Presentations
- Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and security workshops to stakeholders, including technical teams and senior management.
- Respond to technical requirements for Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
- Support the sales team in positioning suitable security solutions based on client requirements.
Proof of Concept (PoC) & Technical Validation
- Lead and execute technical Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to validate proposed solutions within client environments.
- Define clear success criteria and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) requirements during the pre-sales stage to ensure alignment before deployment.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the sales team to develop account strategies and identify cross-selling or up-selling opportunities.
- Ensure smooth transition from pre-sales to post-sales delivery by providing comprehensive documentation and architectural briefings.
- Act as a key technical resource within the team while managing relationships with multiple technology vendors.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–4 years of experience in cyber security, preferably in a pre-sales, consulting, or solutions architecture role.
- Experience working with IT distributors or system integrators within the Malaysian market is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of cyber security domains, including:
- Network Security
- Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR/XDR)
- Cloud Security
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Zero Trust Architecture
- Familiarity with enterprise security solutions and vendors such as Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Check Point, CrowdStrike, Trend Micro, or SentinelOne.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, NSE 4–7, PCNSA, or PCNSE are an advantage.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a business-focused manner.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
