Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

Overall Job Summary
Working within the Aviation and Checkpoint Inspection (ACI) engineering team, this role involves contributing to projects across the full product lifecycle—from initial concept development and new product introduction (NPD) to continuous improvement in manufacturing.
The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to design electrical systems for aviation and checkpoint inspection scanning equipment. Key aspects of the role include control panel design, block cable diagrams, schematic creation, Bill of Materials (BoM) generation, and lifecycle/revision management.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret technical specifications and customer requirements from Sales, Project Managers, and Engineering Management.
- Research and develop alternative components or design solutions.
- Support New Product Development (NPD) activities, including hands-on prototyping and commissioning.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation to support designs.
- Create electrical schematics and 3D panel layouts using tools such as AutoCAD, Siemens PADS, EPLAN P8, and Pro Panel.
- Generate and export BoM data for electrical hardware.
- Release designs into the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system through formal change management processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industrial standards (e.g., IEC, UL/CE).
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop innovative product solutions.
- Provide technical support across all stages of the product lifecycle.
- Adhere to company quality and safety procedures.
- Support service activities and implement engineering change requests.
- Travel internationally as required.
- Demonstrate professionalism aligned with core values such as integrity, innovation, accountability, and teamwork.
- Report quality issues or defects promptly to enable corrective action and prevent recurrence.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Experience & Attributes
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of electrical control systems, including PLC systems.
- Experience with electrical CAD software.
- Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Oracle Agile, Propel, Siemens TeamCenter).
- Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs.
- Willingness to travel, with strong presentation skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Word).
Desirable:
- Experience using AutoCAD.
- Hands-on experience with wiring control panels or test rigs.
Knowledge, Training, and Qualifications
Essential:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a relevant field.
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree (BEng/BSc) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
