Project Engineer
Job Summary
Responsible for managing new incoming projects and revision updates, coordinating tooling transfer and testing, and preparing part approval documentation to ensure smooth project execution and customer approval.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Project Introduction & Engineering Changes
-
Review and study new drawings and revision updates for incoming or existing projects.

Identify uncommon items (materials, packaging, special requirements) and coordinate with Customer, Marketing, or Planner for clarification.

Support and participate in tool buy-off when required and prepare buy-off reports.
-
Review packaging requirements once samples are received.
-
Highlight major changes for existing projects and discuss submission plans with management.

Issue and maintain Engineering Change Notices (ECN) for any changes in design, revision, material, approval status, or related items, and distribute them to relevant departments.
2. Tool Transfer & Tool Testing (Internal / External)

Coordinate tool transfer activities and prepare testing schedules and material requests.

Arrange testing with Production and ensure all required documents (tool history, parameters, last shot sample, etc.) are collected and filed.

Create and maintain a project file for each new project.
-
Provide testers with customer parameters and highlight any discrepancies before testing.
-
Monitor testing to ensure compliance with material specifications, process parameters, and technical requirements.

Coordinate with Quality/FA for sample inspection, including cosmetic checks, weight, and dimensional verification.

Arrange DPAP/sample builds once samples meet requirements.

Prepare testing reports and share them with relevant departments after completion.

Ensure process parameters such as water flow rate, part weight, shot weight, and cycle time meet specified requirements.
3. Part Approval Documentation
-
Prepare and compile part approval reports according to customer requirements.

Coordinate with Quality and FA teams for documentation such as control plans, inspection results, capability studies, and measurement system analysis.

Submit approval samples and complete documentation to customers for review.
-
Follow up with customers until approval is obtained.

Ensure testing and approval documentation are completed within the required timeline.

Distribute approved samples and approval notifications to relevant departments and update records.
-
Issue ECN for approved revisions of existing projects and ensure proper documentation and filing.
Qualification / Knowledge / Skills Requirements
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
-
Minimum 1 year of experience in plastic injection molding or a related injection process is preferred.

Willing to be hands-on and work on-site together with field technician teams when required.
-
Experience in using AutoCAD and other related engineering software is an added advantage.

Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Able to communicate clearly in Bahasa Melayu and English, both verbally and in writing, and comfortable communicating with customers and co-workers.

Willing to travel locally depending on project requirements.
-
Able to understand and follow company processes, policies, and procedures.
-
Capable of building and maintaining good working relationships internally and externally.
-
Possess strong analytical, statistical, and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret and manage information, data, and trends.

Strong attention to detail.
-
Results-oriented with the ability to prioritize workload and meet project deadlines.
