POSITION: LAB TECHNICIAN 

Job Descriptions: 

• Receive and record all sample request from sale / customers / distributors / other Arkema plants.
• Pack the sample as per item and quantity requested into boxes.
• Prepare necessary document to send out the sample.
• Manage and ensure sufficient sample stock and packaging materials, raise stock replenish request to production.
• Collect and arrange replenish sample from production site to the sample store with proper label for each grade of sample.
• Carry out resin testing and paint testing work assigned under the guidance of lab officer and application chemist. Generate test reports related to coating applications.
• In-charge basic resin testing in physical data development such as compatibility test, drying time testing etc.
• Prepare spray panels required for testing or promotion tools.
• Carry out QUV test, natural exposure test for all project that required such test.
• Maintain good housekeeping of coatings application lab and good upkeep of test equipment. Provide constructive suggestions for continuous improvement on efficiency and safety of own workplace.
• To upkeep and maintain documentation related to coating applications, for example test reports, samples request forms.
• Carry out waste disposal of paints and its raw materials in accordance to Waste Disposal Procedures and ensure all technical service/application activities are in compliance with the company’s HSEQ policy and procedure.
• Take reasonable care for health and safety of himself and of other persons, to cooperate with superior, to wear or use personal protective equipment provided as appropriate and to comply health and safety instruction as stipulated under Section 24 OSHA 1994 and undertake the following loss control responsibilities;

1. Identify the potential hazards, gains and the possible improvement
2. Report the HSEQ near-misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to superior or HSE personnel.
3. Report the HSEQ incident, accidents to superior or HSE personnel.
4. Compliant with the policies, legal regulations, Arkema requirements, rules and procedures of one's sector applying to HSEQ.

Job Dimensions: 

• Manage out-going sample for customer testing, sending >5000X1kg sample annually to promote increase sales revenue.
• Maintain and manage 1kg size resin store for the sample stock of full range product (ACRM produce and traded product) up to 80 grades with total quantity of 5MT.
• Manage adequate sample stock inventory to ensure smooth sample supply while limit quantity of aged sample disposal within target. 
• Weekly checking on QUV test panels up to 100 test panels.

Accountabilities: 

• Responsible for packaging of resins sample to be send for customer test.
• Manage resin sample stock and store.
• Carry out resin application testing and compatibility data development.
• Spray the panels 
• QUV and natural exposure test monitoring

Qualifications: 

• Diploma / Certificate in Chemistry or STPM or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant working experience in a similar capacity, or SPM level with at least 4 years of relevant working experience in a similar capacity
• Fairly good in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Computer Literate: Microsoft Words, Excel and Power Point etc.

Environment:

• Deal with various grades of products which each grade with uncertain sample moving speed
• Diversify coating system, paint testing parameters and paint chemistry to learn.
• Need to build good cooperation and relationship with production people for stock replenish.
• Deal with heavy load materials, carry up and down of 4 level by stairs.
