Job Title: IGCSE ICT & Computer Science Teacher
Qualifications
● Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
● Teaching qualification or certification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent) is an added advantage.
● At least 1–2 years of experience teaching ICT or Computer Science in a school setting, preferably within a Cambridge curriculum (KS3–KS4/IGCSE).
● Familiarity with IGCSE ICT (0417) and Computer Science (0478) syllabuses.
Key Responsibilities
● Prepare and deliver engaging, structured weekly lesson plans for Key Stages 3 and 4 students.
● Teach ICT and Computer Science concepts, including programming (Python, pseudocode), systems analysis, databases, networks, and data security.
● Design differentiated lesson materials, assessments, and projects to suit various learning abilities.
● Incorporate practical and theoretical components of the IGCSE syllabus effectively, ensuring curriculum coverage and exam readiness.
● Guide students in hands-on tasks including coding, system simulation, spreadsheet use, and website creation.
● Mark and provide constructive feedback on students’ classwork, coursework, and mock exam scripts in line with Cambridge standards.
● Maintain student progress records and contribute to report writing for parent-teacher discussions.
● Provide academic guidance and targeted support for students, including during after-school revision sessions or clubs.
● Integrate responsible digital citizenship and online safety into classroom practices.
● Support and help plan IT-related school events, competitions (e.g., coding challenges), and digital literacy programmes.
● Actively participate in and support all school-wide events and activities. All teachers are expected to attend, contribute to, or help organise events such as assemblies, exhibitions, sports days, open days, concerts, and celebrations.
● Participate actively in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and collaborative planning with colleagues.
Key Skills
● Strong subject expertise in ICT and Computer Science with up-to-date knowledge of technological tools and platforms.
● Ability to break down complex technical concepts into accessible language for secondary students.
● Experience with educational platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, learning management systems).
● Familiarity with programming logic, web development, databases, and digital systems.
● Capable of fostering student engagement using a variety of instructional strategies, including project-based and inquiry-based learning.
● Excellent classroom management, time organisation, and lesson pacing.
● Proactive team player with a growth mindset and openness to feedback and innovation.
● Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
● Passionate about student development and inspiring interest in digital technology careers.
