Factory Manager
Job Title: Factory Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Factory Setup & Commissioning (Initial Phase):
- Oversee the layout design, installation, and commissioning of generator set assembly lines.
- Coordinate with equipment suppliers, consultants, and contractors to ensure smooth plant startup.
- Recruit and train key production staff and supervisors.
- Operational Management (Ongoing):
- Manage day-to-day factory operations including production, quality, maintenance, logistics, and HSE.
- Ensure the efficient assembly of diesel and gas generator sets according to engineering specifications and customer requirements.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet delivery targets.
- Monitor output, efficiency, and downtime; implement continuous improvement programs.
- Maintain strict adherence to quality standards and ensure compliance with relevant certifications.
- Work closely with supply chain and procurement teams to manage inventory.
- Lead daily production meetings, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Team Leadership:
- Build and lead a high-performing factory team.
- Conduct performance reviews, training, and coaching.
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian labor laws and workplace safety standards.
- Implement and oversee HSE programs.
- Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare weekly/monthly production and efficiency reports.
- Track KPIs such as production volume, quality defects, downtime, and labor efficiency.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8–10 years of experience in manufacturing/assembly, preferably in generator sets, heavy equipment, or power systems.
• Minimum 3–5 years in a leadership/managerial position.
• Proven experience in setting up or scaling manufacturing operations is a strong advantage.
• Strong understanding of generator systems, diesel engines, alternators, and control systems.
• Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia (Mandarin is a plus).
• Familiarity with ERP systems and production planning software.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in regional or international generator set assembly operations.
• Knowledge of export compliance and international quality standards (e.g., UL, ISO, CE).
• Certified in Six Sigma, Lean, or other operational excellence programs.
