Job Position – MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN ( PASIR GUDANG )

Job Descriptions

1) Equipment Efficiencies – To maintain the plant by performing planned preventative and predictive maintenance tasks and efficient response to plant breakdowns.

• Carry out planned mechanical & electrical routine maintenance tasks to ensure plant machinery is running effectively and safely. Ensure routines are completed thoroughly and efficiently.
• Carry out mechanical & electrical repairs when required to ensure plant availability is maximised.
• Anticipate failures on plant machinery and highlight with recommendations to prevent failure to Team Leader and planner.
• Carry out tasks effectively, efficiently and work without direct supervision.
• Reporting of planned / unplanned follow actions to leader in order for the work orders to be closed off in a timely manner with the correct level of feedback.
• Develop a trusting and respectful relationship with manufacturing teams to ensure a shared urgency is placed on breakdown follow items.
• Ensure daily communication with the manufacturing teams on days to understand key issues and communicate technical issues and/or planned maintenance that could impact on production.
• Report to team leader any general plant infrastructure issues with regards buildings & services.

2) Safety & Compliance – Comply with the Company’s Health & Safety and Environmental Policy and Procedures so that a safe and secure environment is maintained.

• Ensure compliance with KIMY safety policies.
• Follow work instructions on planned activities and report concerns with any instructions to Team Leader.
• Assist Team Leader with the creation of new or modification of work instructions.
• Ensure LOTO sheets are adhered to.
• Report any unsafe actions of contractors to Team Leader and ensure awareness of contractor policies.

3) Continuous Improvement(CI) – Active engagement in plant CI activities.

• Support plant improvement by submitting CI ideas.
• Support in the area morning meetings with active participation and accurate feedback.
• Support problem solving initiatives to ensure all major breakdowns are root caused and permanent correct actions are taken as well as short term intermediate actions where required.
• Support plant CI initiatives by actively participating in workshops when requested by Team leader and delivering actions in an agreed time.
• Continually review work content of maintenance routines to maximize effectiveness by suggesting improvements to Team Leader.

5) Working hours to be arranged to cover other shift & day technicians. This means this position will need to work on a non-working day as and when required. Stand-by to response to call-in for rectification of emergency breakdown/problems and work at extended hour.
6) Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• Preferably, the candidate should be a time served multi skilled technician who possess a certificate / diploma in technical / engineering disciplines with at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Candidates with minimum SPM qualification who possess at least 8 years of relevant working experience can be considered for this position.
• Ability in troubleshooting and rectification of machineries such as conveyors, pumps, control valve, cylinders, etc. and some knowledge’s / skills in electrical and automation system such as motors, wiring, sensors, control valves, etc.
• To work together with shift E&I technician as a team for problem solving and ensure the machineries and processes in the plant are working effectively during your shift.
• The job requires the candidate to work on an eight (8) hours rotating shift basis.
• Flexible in terms of break times to suit the needs of the business. Able to manage own time.
• Achieving the required plant availability while adhering to compliant standards in health and safety.
• Able to work at extended hour.
• Responsible to perform any other job assign by management or immediate superior
• Maintaining composure under the pressures and frustrations inherent in a fast moving ‘output’ focused environment.
• Balancing judgement between short-term remedial action and long-term resolution of root causes.
• Strong communication skills. Dealing with differing personalities within the team.
• Willing to develop skills when given the opportunity to do so. Adopt a “can do / will do my best” attitude.
• Flexible to carry out any task as requested within their capability (training, competence)
• Data driven & Result focused. Proactive mind-set and good planning skills.
