Electrical Engineer

• Department: Engineering

• Location: Pasir Gudang 

• Salary: RM 4,500 – RM 5,500 per month

• Employment Type: Full-Time

• Reporting To: Assistant Engineering Manager

Job Objective

To manage and provide technical expertise to ensure all engineering, maintenance, and utility operations are carried out effectively, efficiently, and safely across the plant.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Equipment Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Reliability

• Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance on plant machinery and utility systems.

• Prepare weekly, monthly, and yearly PM schedules and strictly pursue maintenance execution accordingly.

• Respond immediately to major machine breakdowns, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and follow up with corrective actions to minimize downtime.

• Support maintenance and facility technicians with minor troubleshooting, repairs, and process improvements.

Technical Documentation, Calibration & Fixed Assets

• Maintain accurate records and documentation for all scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance procedures.

• Prepare, update, and manage the calibration list and execute calibration for all listed instruments.

• Establish and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and facility processes.

• Monitor, control, and track fixed assets across all departments and plant buildings.

Procurement, Spare Parts & Investment Planning

• Identify machine problems and provide constructive feedback to Production, Maintenance, and Facility teams.

• Issue Purchase Requisitions (PR) for the Engineering department, prepare spare parts lists for machines and utilities, and oversee order fulfillments.

• Participate in investment planning and continuous improvement projects in alignment with the division action plan.

Safety, Testing & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Conduct methodical experiments, analyze operational data, and interpret results for plant efficiency.

• Cooperate closely with Facility, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve complex engineering or operational issues.

• Ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines, risk assessments, permit-to-work systems, and Malaysian electrical regulatory standards.

Requirements & Competencies

1. Education & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or equivalent.

• Experience: Proven experience in electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.

2. Technical & Automation Skills

• Electrical Systems: In-depth knowledge of power distribution, wiring, schematics, protection systems (breakers, relays, contactors), motors, VFDs, and power quality management.

• Industrial Automation: Strong exposure to PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, sensors, transmitters, control panel troubleshooting, and communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).

• Software Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AutoCAD Electrical (or equivalent drawing software), PLC programming tools, and HMI/SCADA configuration software.

3. Safety & Regulatory Compliance

• Comprehensive understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, permit-to-work systems, electrical isolation, and Malaysian electrical safety regulations.

4. Soft Skills & Personal Attributes

• Honest, trustworthy, respectful, highly adaptable, and capable of working effectively under pressure.

• Strong leadership, task prioritization, decision-making, and organizational skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate cross-functionally.
