Inspector of Works (IOW) / Clerk of Works (COW)

Salary Range: RM 3,000.00 – RM 6,500.00 per month

Employment Type: Contract Basis (6 months – 1 year, extendable)

Location: Senai, Johor

Job Scope & Duties

• Act as the owner's site representative to monitor daily construction activities, workmanship, quality, and progress.

• Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.

• Monitor civil, structural, and building construction works including earthworks, road and drainage, reinforced concrete, and structural steel works.

• Review technical documents, inspect materials, and witness testing and commissioning activities on-site.

• Identify discrepancies, defects, non-conforming works, or safety hazards; issue site observations and verify proper rectification.

• Monitor actual progress against the project baseline schedule and highlight potential delays or technical risks to the Project Manager.

• Coordinate daily site matters with consultants, Main Contractor, Quantity Surveyors (QS), and project teams.

• Attend site meetings, joint inspections, and technical coordination meetings as required.

• Maintain comprehensive daily site logs, defect tracking lists, and photographic records of major construction milestones and critical issues.

• Prepare regular site inspection reports, technical updates, and handover documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.

• Proven working experience in construction site supervision, inspection, or as an Inspector of Works (IOW) / Clerk of Works (COW).

• Prior experience in industrial, factory, warehouse, or commercial construction projects is strongly preferred.

• Solid working knowledge of general building, civil, structural, earthworks, road, and drainage construction practices.

• Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and method statements accurately.

• Strong communication, site coordination, and report writing skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

• High self-motivation with the ability to work independently on-site with minimal supervision.

• Willing to be based full-time at the project site in Senai, Johor for the full duration of the contract.
