SAP Engineer

• Location: 79200 Iskandar Puteri, Johor

• Salary Range: RM 6,000 – RM 8,000 per month

• Industry Sector: Aerospace & Aviation Manufacturing / Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO)

• Minimum Experience: Minimum 3 years in Manufacturing/Process/Product Engineering AND minimum 3 years in SAP usage/support

• Language Requirements: English and local native language (verbal and written)

Job Summary

The SAP Engineer serves as the local technical SME and SAP Key User for the facility, supporting the global SAP MRO Template and manufacturing execution systems. This role bridges production engineering, configuration management, and IT operations delivering robust manufacturing processes, driving NPI (New Product Introduction) setup in SAP, leading continuous improvement/Lean initiatives, and providing first-level SAP support to local end-users before escalating to the global ERP Centre of Excellence (CoE).

Key Responsibilities

• First-Line SAP Support & Key User Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the local primary contact between End Users, local Super Users, and the Global ERP CoE (IT) team for the SAP MRO Template.

  • Support SAP system setup for New Product Introduction (NPI) within GKN ESCR.

  • Identify functional SAP Super Users, log business/technical tickets, and coordinate local IT/system enhancement projects.

  • Maintain, update, and manage all local SAP training documentation; ensure end-users complete required SAP operational training.

• Manufacturing & Process Engineering:

  • Develop and implement manufacturing process solutions, First Article Inspections (FAI), configuration changes, and build definitions.

  • Collaborate with NPI Engineers to align product development and system routing through SAP.

  • Drive root cause analysis, corrective/preventative actions (CAPA), and Lean/Kaizen initiatives (5S) to reduce non-conformances.

  • Deliver technical process and SAP operating system training to production technicians; support internal/external quality audits.

• Configuration Management:

  • Prepare and maintain configuration documentation, ensuring data integrity, security, and accuracy of the Configuration Management (CM) database.

  • Deploy global CM standards, audit the CM database, analyze configuration discrepancies, and resolve findings using Lean methodologies.

• General Technical & EHS Duties:

  • Uphold GKN Aerospace EHS (Health, Safety, and Environmental) policies and promote a safety-first culture.

  • Perform other related engineering and system support duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree or Professional Qualification in Aerospace/Aviation Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, NDT, or IT Systems Engineering.

• Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Manufacturing, Product, or Process Engineering within a structured manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in SAP usage, process integration, and/or system support (MRO template exposure is an advantage).

• Technical Knowledge & Standards:

  • Strong working knowledge of quality system standards (AS9100, ISO9000, and/or D1-9000).

  • Solid understanding of ERP/SAP functionalities, engineering configuration controls, and process development.

  • Training on "Train the Trainer" is an added advantage.

• Competencies & Attributes:

  • Strong logical problem-solving, root cause analysis, and technical documentation skills.

  • Proven ability to coach technicians, train end-users, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong team-building, stakeholder management, and cross-functional communication abilities in a global Matrix organization.
