Electrical Engineer (Automotive Harnessing & EV Systems)

Position: Electrical Engineer

Location: Senai, Johor Darul Ta'zim

Employment Type: Full-Time (On-site)

Working Hours: Monday – Friday (Standard Office Hours)

Salary Range: RM 4,500 – RM 6,500

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to drive the design, integration, and troubleshooting of automotive electrical systems at Sun Bus Tech Sdn Bhd. You will be responsible for designing wiring harnesses, power distribution units, lighting, auxiliary systems, and electronic control units (ECU) for commercial buses and emerging electric vehicle (EV) platforms. You will bridge design and shop-floor execution to ensure all electrical installations meet highest automotive quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Electrical System Design: Design schematics, wiring harness layouts, circuit diagrams, and power distribution systems for bus bodies, cabin interiors, and chassis components.

• EV & Control Integration: Support the integration of advanced electronic components, battery management systems (BMS), multiplexing systems, and HVAC controls into modern bus architectures.

• Testing & Troubleshooting: Lead electrical testing, diagnostic checks, and troubleshooting during assembly, prototyping, and final pre-delivery inspections.

• Vendor & Material Liaison: Coordinate with suppliers to select high-grade automotive electrical components, connectors, and control hardware that align with budget and quality standards.

• Standardization & Safety: Ensure all electrical designs comply with automotive safety guidelines, UNECE standards, and local vehicle homologation requirements (JPJ/VTA).

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.

• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive electrical design, wiring harness engineering, or low/high voltage systems in commercial vehicles or heavy machinery.

• Core Competencies:

  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent schematic software).

  • Deep understanding of 12V/24V automotive electrical architectures, CAN bus systems, relay controls, and wiring schematics.

  • Practical knowledge of Electric Vehicle (EV) powertrains or high-voltage safety protocols is a strong advantage.

  • Strong diagnostic mindset for floor troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
