Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee international logistics operations, with a strong focus on sea freight, import and export activities, and supply chain coordination. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of international shipping, freight management, warehouse operations, and cost optimization while ensuring efficient and compliant logistics processes.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to lead logistics operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee international logistics operations, with a primary focus on sea freight shipments.
- Coordinate import and export activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs agents, and logistics service providers.
- Negotiate freight rates, transportation contracts, and service agreements to achieve cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Monitor shipment schedules and resolve logistics issues to minimize delays and disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and trade documentation.
- Apply knowledge of Incoterms and international shipping risk management to support business operations.
- Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure smooth inventory movement, storage, and distribution processes.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to improve operational performance and optimize transportation costs.
- Prepare logistics reports, shipment analysis, and performance metrics for management review.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure proper record-keeping for all logistics activities.
- Lead, mentor, and support the logistics team while fostering a collaborative working environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience managing international logistics operations, particularly sea freight.
- Proven experience working with shipping companies, international freight forwarders, and customs-related processes.
- Strong understanding of Incoterms, international trade regulations, and shipping risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate freight rates and optimize logistics costs.
- Experience coordinating warehouse operations and inventory movement.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to documentation and compliance.
- Effective leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Malay.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
