Position Summary
The QA/QC Manager is responsible for leading the Quality Assurance and Quality Control function within a precast concrete manufacturing environment. This role ensures that products, materials, manufacturing processes, and quality systems consistently meet customer specifications, engineering standards, and applicable industry regulations. The incumbent will oversee quality inspections, laboratory testing, audit compliance, documentation, and team performance while driving continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Lead and manage all QA/QC activities for precast concrete and reinforced concrete building and civil engineering components.
- Ensure incoming raw materials and finished products are inspected and tested in accordance with established quality standards.
- Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with approved specifications, drawings, and quality procedures.
- Investigate product non-conformities, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and monitor effectiveness.
- Resolve quality-related issues in collaboration with production, engineering, and project teams.
Testing & Technical Compliance
- Ensure all required laboratory and product testing is carried out accurately and within required timelines.
- Review, verify, and approve quality inspection reports and testing documentation.
- Ensure technical compliance with applicable engineering specifications and project requirements.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to verify product quality and compliance.
Quality Management System
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure quality documentation is complete, accurate, and updated, including:
- Project Quality Plans (PQP)
- Inspection & Test Plans (ITP)
- Method Statements
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure project-specific quality requirements are incorporated prior to project execution.
Audit & Regulatory Compliance
- Lead internal and external quality audits.
- Ensure readiness for certification audits and surveillance assessments.
- Maintain compliance with applicable quality management systems, industry standards, accreditation requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Coordinate audit findings, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Represent the quality function during customer visits, factory inspections, technical discussions, and external audits.
- Address customer quality concerns and provide timely technical responses.
- Work closely with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders to resolve quality-related matters.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the QA/QC team to achieve departmental objectives.
- Plan manpower allocation to ensure adequate staffing and operational efficiency.
- Conduct performance evaluations, set individual performance goals, and identify development opportunities.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Analyze quality performance indicators and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Develop and implement preventive measures to reduce defects, rework, and quality costs.
- Support operational excellence and lean manufacturing initiatives where applicable.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of QA/QC experience in a precast concrete manufacturing environment.
- At least 5 years in a senior engineering or supervisory/management role leading quality functions.
- Strong experience managing quality assurance processes within concrete manufacturing or construction materials industries.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of precast concrete manufacturing processes and quality control systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction standards.
- Extensive experience managing quality audits and certification processes.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people management abilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
