Position: MEG Process Engineer

Position Summary

The MEG Process Engineer is responsible for supporting Request for Quotation (RFQ) activities, manufacturing system setup, process implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure a smooth transition from quotation through to stable production.

This role collaborates closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Engineering teams to coordinate manufacturing information, establish production processes, maintain engineering documentation, and configure ERP systems for both new and existing products.

The position combines manufacturing engineering support, production follow-up, ERP administration, documentation management, and shop floor engagement to ensure manufacturing readiness, process consistency, and product quality.


Key Responsibilities

1. RFQ & New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Support RFQ activities by coordinating manufacturing-related information required for new product setup.
  • Assist with new product introduction and production readiness.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to establish:
    • New Part Numbers (PN)
    • Manufacturing process flows
    • Bills of Materials (BOM)
    • Manufacturing routings
    • Work centres
    • Process requirements
  • Ensure successful transition of approved quotations into production.
  • Participate in manufacturing planning for new product launches.

2. Manufacturing System Setup & Documentation

  • Create and maintain manufacturing information within the ERP system, including:
    • Assembly Items
    • Inventory Items
    • Service Items
    • Component Items
    • Bills of Materials (BOM)
    • BOM Revisions
    • Manufacturing Routings
    • Workbench Operations
    • Work Centre Assignments
    • Capacity Planning Information
  • Ensure manufacturing master data remains accurate and up to date.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain engineering and manufacturing documentation.
  • Upload and maintain:
    • Engineering drawings
    • Product specifications
    • Work Instructions
    • Manufacturing documentation
  • Maintain proper document revision control and release status.

3. Process Implementation & Manufacturing Support

  • Support implementation of new products into manufacturing.
  • Monitor production during initial manufacturing stages to ensure process compliance.
  • Work closely with Production and Quality teams to maintain product quality and manufacturing consistency.
  • Collect and organize manufacturing and process data.
  • Monitor process variables and manufacturing performance for new and transferred products.
  • Escalate manufacturing or process-related issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support collaboration between Manufacturing and Quality teams to improve product quality and production efficiency.

4. Production Readiness & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate manufacturing readiness activities to support production schedules.
  • Follow up with internal departments to obtain required information for production setup.
  • Assist in resolving manufacturing setup issues involving:
    • Work Orders (WO)
    • Material setup
    • Routing configuration
    • ERP manufacturing transactions
  • Support seamless handover of new products into routine production.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in collecting manufacturing, process, and tooling data for analysis.
  • Monitor process performance and manufacturing outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve:
    • Manufacturing processes
    • Production setup
    • Documentation accuracy
    • Workflow standardization
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on:
    • Process stability
    • Product quality
    • Data reporting
    • Documentation management
    • ERP setup accuracy
  • Assist in maintaining and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), setup guides, and work instructions.

6. Legacy Product Support

  • Support process improvement activities for existing products and manufacturing operations.
  • Assist in identifying process gaps and opportunities to improve manufacturing control.
  • Work with Production and Quality teams to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.

Requirements

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Production Engineering
    • Or a related engineering discipline

Experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in:
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Process Engineering
    • Production Engineering
    • Manufacturing documentation
    • ERP or manufacturing system administration
    • Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience in manufacturing industries such as:
    • Rubber
    • Moulding
    • Machining
    • Oil & Gas
    • General Manufacturing
      will be an added advantage.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, MRP, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Fresh graduates with strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with ERP and manufacturing systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good planning, coordination, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong organizational and documentation management abilities.
  • Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Basic understanding of:

Work Environment

  • Combination of office-based engineering work and manufacturing floor support.
  • Regular interaction with production and warehouse personnel.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn when entering production areas.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Combination of desk work and shop floor activities.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout production facilities.
  • Occasional participation in inspections, production observations, and manufacturing support activities.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position
  • Monday to Friday
  • Occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work may be required based on operational needs.
