Assembly & Integration Engineer (Robotics / Mechatronics)
Job Summary
The Assembly & Integration Engineer (Robotics / Mechatronics) is responsible for assembling, integrating, testing, and commissioning advanced robotic systems, automated equipment, and mechatronic assemblies. This role serves as the critical link between mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines, ensuring that robotic solutions are built, calibrated, and validated to meet performance, reliability, and quality standards. The position also supports prototype development, troubleshooting activities, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product development and manufacturing lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
System Assembly & Integration
• Assemble robotic systems, automated machinery, electromechanical components, sensors, actuators, and control systems according to engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Integrate mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software components into complete robotic and automation systems.
• Interpret CAD drawings, assembly instructions, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to ensure accurate assembly execution.
• Ensure all assemblies comply with engineering requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Testing, Calibration & Commissioning
• Perform system calibration, functional testing, validation, and commissioning of robotic equipment and automated systems.
• Configure and verify sensors, motors, actuators, PLCs, controllers, vision systems, and communication interfaces.
• Execute testing procedures and performance verification activities to ensure systems meet operational requirements.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and customer demonstrations when required.
Prototype Development & Process Improvement
• Collaborate with R&D and Engineering teams to build, evaluate, and refine prototype robotic systems.
• Participate in design reviews and provide assembly-related feedback to improve manufacturability and system reliability.
• Recommend improvements to assembly methods, tooling, testing procedures, and production workflows.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and engineering change implementation activities.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, and system integration issues.
• Investigate root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve system performance.
• Provide technical support during assembly, testing, commissioning, and field deployment activities.
• Assist customers and internal teams in resolving technical issues when required.
Documentation & Quality Control
• Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly work instructions, testing records, calibration reports, and technical documentation.
• Ensure all engineering changes, modifications, and updates are accurately documented.
• Support quality inspections and ensure compliance with internal quality standards and customer specifications.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding components, technical requirements, and product improvements.
• Support project teams in meeting development timelines, cost objectives, and customer expectations.
• Participate in technical discussions, project reviews, and problem-solving activities.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Candidates with up to 3 years of relevant experience in robotics, automation, mechatronics, or machine assembly are preferred.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent platforms.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, wiring schematics, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of motors, actuators, PLCs, microcontrollers, industrial sensors, vision systems, LIDAR, IMUs, and automation equipment.
• Basic programming knowledge in Python, C++, ROS2, PLC programming, or related automation platforms.
• Familiarity with electrical wiring, control panels, machine assembly, and system integration activities.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality, safety, and technical excellence.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in robotics competitions, university capstone projects, automation projects, or engineering internships.
• Familiarity with industrial automation, AGV/AMR systems, machine vision, collaborative robots (Cobots), or autonomous systems.
• Exposure to manufacturing environments, machine commissioning, or production support activities.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
