QA/QC Manager
Job Summary
The QA/QC Manager is responsible for leading and managing all Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities to ensure products, processes, and systems comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The role serves as the primary representative for quality management systems, customer quality matters, supplier quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives while driving a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management & Customer Quality
- Lead the preparation, review, and approval of First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, PPAP submissions, quality documentation packages, and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Possess the authority to stop production when significant quality issues or process deviations are identified to prevent non-conforming products from reaching customers.
- Review and approve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions and supporting quality documentation before customer submission.
- Establish, implement, and monitor change management and change control processes to ensure compliance with quality management system requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality matters, including quality concerns, complaints, audits, corrective actions, and technical discussions.
- Coordinate with customers regarding inspection methods, quality standards, acceptance criteria, special characteristics, and quality objectives.
- Ensure customer requirements are effectively communicated and implemented throughout manufacturing operations.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Oversee incoming, in-process, and outgoing quality control activities to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
- Review and approve corrective action reports, root cause analyses, and preventive actions before submission to customers.
- Review, evaluate, and determine disposition of non-conforming products, rejection notices, scrap, rework, and concession requests.
- Manage customer complaints, internal non-conformances, supplier quality issues, and corrective action programs.
- Ensure quality documentation, inspection standards, control plans, and procedures are properly maintained and updated.
Supplier Quality Management
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements, specifications, and customer expectations.
- Monitor supplier quality performance and lead supplier corrective action and improvement initiatives.
- Participate in supplier evaluations, audits, and development programs to strengthen supply chain quality performance.
Quality Systems & Compliance
- Serve as the Management Representative for the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring all required processes are established, implemented, maintained, and continuously improved.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and other applicable quality standards.
- Plan, coordinate, and lead internal quality audits according to the annual audit schedule.
- Monitor audit findings and ensure timely implementation and verification of corrective actions.
- Oversee document control, quality planning, risk management, and quality system maintenance activities.
Management Review & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare and present monthly quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), quality reports, and performance trends to management.
- Generate Management Review Meeting reports and present Quality Management System performance, customer feedback, audit results, and improvement opportunities to top management.
- Analyze quality metrics and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality, process capability, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Promote awareness of customer requirements, quality objectives, and quality performance throughout the organization.
- Lead implementation of quality improvement tools and methodologies such as 8D, CAPA, FMEA, SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
Leadership & Training
- Lead, mentor, and develop QA Engineers, QA Supervisors, QC Inspectors, and Quality Technicians.
- Conduct training on customer requirements, inspection methods, quality standards, quality tools, and quality management system requirements.
- Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all departments.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Tooling, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Operations teams to ensure quality requirements are integrated into all business processes.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure effective communication between customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders regarding quality-related matters.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), process validation, and engineering change management activities from a quality perspective.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by management from time to time.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Quality Management within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 3–5 years of leadership or managerial experience managing quality teams and quality systems.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans, and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Experience managing customer audits, supplier quality programs, corrective action systems, and quality management system certifications.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and technical specifications.
- Certified Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification is an advantage.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and quality reporting systems.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
