Job Dimensions
  • Capital Projects Size: up to 50 M€.
  • 8 different BU and plants in APOC, with projects implementation needs.
  • Functional management of project teams, internal/external resources.
  • Multicultural and multi-entities cooperation and exposure
  • Arkema BUs and sites in APOC Region
  • High level of visibility and exposure to company management.

 

Activities
  • Responsible for global management and coordination of the Project: Internally with other Arkema stakeholders and externally with EPC / EPCm, Suppliers and Contractors.
  • Responsible & Accountable for On Schedule & On cost of the Project Execution Phase.
  • Evaluate, Analyze & take adequate Preventive and Corrective actions for the various risks for EPC portion of the project
  • Monitor, Supervise & Lead the Engineering activities performed by an engineering company.
  • Monitor, Supervise and Lead all the Construction activities; Project control, field communication, EPCm Contractor management, all sub-contractor management and Closed out Management.
  • Coordinate with GASP on the Procurement activities.

 

Definition and conception stage :

  • Ensure the agreement/formalization of the project and Propose project strategy as per project objectives.
  • Challenge the proposed solutions and options as per Value Improving Practices Implementation and rigorous risks & opportunities analysis.
  • Validate the cost and schedule key outputs. (EPC portion)
  • Drive the project as per Arkema investments process, guidelines, return of experiences as well as company & country rules and regulations.
  • Identify internal and external resources needs, and ensure coordination.
  • Report to stakeholders and management as per agreed organization scheme.

 

Execution stage : (Detailed Design + Construction)

  • Strictly enforce Arkema safety culture, especially on the field.
  • Ensure that gaps (safety, quality,) are clearly reported, analyzed and actions plan implemented.
  • Set and monitor continuously project KPI’s (cost, changes, progress, 2nd level KPI,).
  • Report regularly these KPI to the management, as per agreed organization scheme, as well as the project risks update.
  • Analyze, Validate, and escalate for decision (if necessary) the key choices to be done during the project implementation: supplier or contractor nomination, design issues, construction issues etc.,
  • Ensure that the execution organization is in place and control the efficiency.
  • Ensure the handover process and close-out activities.
  • Ensure return of experience with BU and internally within our Engineering Group.
  • Coordinate with concerned stakeholders in tasks such as Permitting, Commissioning, startup.,

 

Transverse activities :

  • Lead some transverse improvement actions as per Arkema Engineering global development and roadmap.

 

 

Context and Environment

 

  • Support the growth of Arkema in APOC by New Investments, existing plants modifications, add-ons, for capacity increase or for Operational Excellence improvements.
  • Continuously improve the value and the execution of our Capex projects, especially by capitalizing on the Best practices in project management.
  • APOC, a region with countries with high growth with different cultures / religions and political systems with ongoing or advance regulatory frame.
  • 2 major plants located in the region (Kerteh, Singapore) as well as the downstream facilities (Bostik, ACR)
  • Several on-going new projects.
  • Due to Spread of Locations of our sites, will have need based business trips based on the Projects.

 

Position located in Malaysia (hybrid can be considered but with very frequent business trips to Engineering companies office and construction sites).

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Responsible for global management and coordination of assigned Capex projects: internally with other Arkema stakeholders and externally with suppliers and contractors.
  • Accountable for the cost, schedule and quality on the project’s EPC portion (Engineering, Procurement and Construction)
  • Responsible to manage his(her) behavior, his(her) actions and the ones of his (her) team as per company values and culture (which includes especially safety and compliance)

 

 

Qualifications / Experience

 

  • Engineering Degree in Chemical / Mechanical with experience in process / chemical field.
  • Fluent in written and oral English.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 8 ~10 years in similar type of position.
  • Personal skills required: Autonomy, leadership, decision-making ability, communication effectiveness, anticipation mindset, team spirit, interpersonal, adaptability, and resilience.
  • Strong motivation to work in a challenging environment and strong capability of stress management.
