Fleet Specialist will be responsible for the complete maintenance management of the assets (including trucks, trailers, tanks, other equipment) being used for or associated with transportation of product in his / her assigned region.
He / She will manage workshop activities & associated workforce following stipulated safety, statutory,
quality guidelines.
Primary focus should be to provide safe and reliable fleet to Distribution Team (internal customers) for making business supplies.
Under the guidance of Fleet Manager, Fleet Sepcialist will execute the new technologies, SOPs, preventive maintenance plan and efficiency improvement projects.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria

A. Educational Qualification & Skills Required
– Engineering degree in Mechanical or Automobile stream or at least 3 Years Diploma holder
– Strong technical background with experience in heavy vehicle maintenance
– Drafting & readability of Engineering Cad drawings / Instrumentation / Electrical wiring schematics
– Good understanding on Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
– Engineering Design Software Knowledge :(AutoCAD /Solid Edge / Catia/ 3D Modelling)
– Understanding on Fleet Maintenance Management System (FMS)
– Proficient in Microsoft Excel or any other analytical tool for data analysis
– Languages: Local and English (read, speak and write)
– Computer knowledge (MS Office, Mails, Presentations, ERP preferably SAP)
– Experience liaising with regulatory bodies for statutory related to trucks / tanks
– Clear understanding of motor vehicles rules & regulations and logistics environment of the country

B. Relevant Experience & Certification
Minimum of 05 (five) years’ experience in reputed automotive sectors
– Experience of managing various interfaces as transporters, statutory bodies for strengthening the overall logistics functions will be an added advantage.

Core Responsibilities
1. Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)
– Responsible for upkeep of fleet by complying to Linde Safety norms & OEM recommendations
– Drive the ZERO Incident culture within the team
– Impart Safety & Functional trainings to teammates (technicians, maintenance supervisors) and basic trainings to Drivers & Field Distribution staffs.
– Work Closely with Fleet Maintenance Manager team to advance new vehicle safety
features / Retro-fitment / upgradation / Technology transfer to improve fleet Safety performance
– Conduct periodic audits of external workshops (either at transport contractor site or Linde contracted garages) & initiate corrective actions
– Sharing global alerts, bulletin, safety campaigns with team
– Ensure the audit compliance of SHEQ/Statutory standards and assessments point closure & compliance
– Participate in the Accident / Incident Investigation and RCA, ensure maintenance related CAPA implementation
– Initiate E-MOC(Distribution) for any changes or modification in the design process
– Customer satisfaction by ensuring maintenance free vehicles available for business
– Implementation & Governance of
o Daily tool-box topic / safety talk
o Monthly safety meeting with team
o Ensuring / enforcing 100% compliance to working hours – weekly review of driver wise data
2. Integrated Maintenance Facility (Tank & Truck) – Diagnostics & PM Plan
– Performs trouble shooting as per diagnostics procedure on vehicles and equipment
– Record observations and findings during diagnostics run and decide on the correct method of repair as per OEM standard guidelines
– Plan and organize Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) and delegate specific tasks to concerned technician / mechanic
– Supervise and follow up on actual progress of each individual repair job & timely update to Distribution Lead
– Ensure zero breakdowns due to workmanship & minimize downtime
– Supervision of all workshop activities, especially critical issues.
– Ensure final check/test driving for all vehicles prior releasing it for commercial use
– Periodic review of truck wise performance with respect to fuel mileage, transit loss, M&R cost, downtime and prioritize actions for rehab
– Conduct Vehicle & tank health analysis of substandard tanker incurring losses and submit the report for Rehab and replacement to Distribution Team
– Conduct pre-mature part failure and take up observations with Fleet Maintenance Manager for further actions
– Ensure upkeeping of all gadgets (MDVR, ICC, F&D, Anti-Tow Away, Sensors etc.) fitted in vehicles
– Leading Chassis Changeover or Truck Replacements as per plan
– MIS, Recording & Reporting
o Consolidate and analyze the historical work order data to identify the facility weak zones, incurring equipment failure / breakdowns
o Conduct systematic RCA & submit corrective actions report to Fleet Maintenance Manager for review
o Report vehicle breakdown information to Distribution Lead & Scheduling Manager
o Maintain & submit comprehensive activity Tracker (Tank & Tuck) maintenance / ongoing projects
o 100% stock entry in the ERP (inventory management module) and send the monthly stock & utilization report to Fleet Maintenance Manager
3. Inventory Management
– Responsible to Control & Optimize the Inventory stocks (Tank & Truck)
– Forecast demand & fine tune real time stock inventory (ABC) to maintain the critical spares to Prevent maintenance delays due to non-availability of spares
– Review the critical spare stocks and order for specific jobs/special job for stocks replenishment
4. Team Skill Development – Training & Certification Program
– Provide on-the-job training as well as coaching and mentoring to mechanics / technicians
– Evaluate training needs of the workforce and accordingly organize Vocational & Certification programme (Welding, Engine Simulation Mechanics etc.)
5. Documentation & Statutory Compliance
– Maintenance Job Card / Service Manuals/ GRN/Invoices
– Calibration & Test certificates / Training Records
– Tank / Truck service warranty
– Incase of Linde Owned Trucks, statutory renewals (taxes, permits, licenses etc.) are managed by Fleet Maintenance Lead
– Working hours Records of contractor employees as per factory act regulation
– Maintains workshop employee timesheets (Gate In & Out signs)
6. Design & Specifications (including movable tanks, trailers, trucks, cylinder load body design, tail lift gate system, specialized cylinder handling trolley and other automotive accessories)
– Supporting Fleet Maintenance Manager in
o reviewing & modifying the existing SOPs and developing new specification & design aspects for transportation of cryogenic liquid using tankers and high-pressure gas / liquid cylinder using specialized trucks, trolley and tail liftgates
o Tank stability review, trailer running gear load assessment and appropriate running gear equipment selection
o Review /Approval & Finalization of Equipment specification for Cryogenic Semitrailer, Cryogenic Pumps, Heat exchangers and other Cryogenic equipment as per Linde Safety design standards
o Design and development of on-board cryogenic subsystems (Tanks, Pumps, Interconnection, Safety systems, etc.)
7. Analytics, Cost Control & Productivity
– Review maintenance costs on periodic basis and work on the cost reduction projects under the guidance of Fleet Maintenance Manager
– Monitoring & control of variable cost of distribution (M&R cost per km)
– Improve capacity utilization by optimizing the vehicle capacity to reduce Distribution cost
– Drive projects to reduce Cost per Km / Cost per Nominal
– Ensure centrally driven projects are being executed at site level as per guidelines
– Emphasis & establish the timeline for the assigned Projects & update monthly status
– Review Tableau Dashboards on regular basis
– Accountable & responsible to improve Key Performing Indicators (KPI) in comparison to last benchmark
o M&R Cost per KM – Lower is better
o Tons per Trip or Nominals per Trip – Higher is better
o Capacity Utilization – Higher is better
o Transit Loss – Lower is better
o Fleet Downtime – Lower is better
o Fuel Mileage – Higher is better
o Enroute Breakdowns per month
