PROCUREMENT ENGINEER [ MANUFACTURER / SENAI, JB ]
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct RFI/Q/P (Request for Information/Quotation/Proposal) and bidding processes, minimizing risk and maximizing value in terms of quality, delivery and cost.
Evaluate current and prospective suppliers through supplier prequalification, reviews, site visits, audits, in coordination with QA and Engineering to resolve vendors’ discrepancies and quality issues.
Perform Supplier Risk Management and execute contract negotiation, preparation and renewal.
Initiate and identify cost savings opportunities and projects, support for all sourcing activities for all direct and indirect parts and services.
Implement sourcing plans with goal of assuring specified quality, required delivery times and minimizing the total cost.
Handle for all first article qualification and approvals prior to the mass production lots.
Maintain and develop suppliers’ relationships to meet defined objectives.
Develop a Supplier Management Program with key suppliers including metrics (on time delivery, quality, price and response time), performance goals, and improvement initiatives. Monitor and track suppliers’ performance, capacity planning to meet desired performance.
To ensure suppliers meet company policies, comply with business ethics, product specification and quality standard. To stop supply if supplier fail to meet the requirement.
To select and propose prospective suppliers and be in the approved vendor list (AVL) who meets product quality and specification.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
Minimum a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics)
Strong knowledge in production & fabrication processes; plastics molding, die-casting, metal stamping, SMT etc is essential. At least 5 years’ experience in Purchasing/Sourcing of technical manufacturing parts.
Proficient in reading technical drawings and with good project management and presentation skills
Good knowledge of manufacturing processes; SAP/Agile/Microsoft Office System
Possess strong communication skills and work closely with cross-functional teams; production, engineering, quality, finance and suppliers
Proactive and able to thrive in high-stress, fast changing environment
Must be analytical and structured and be able to influence change
Ability to communicate in Chinese is desirable
Exposure in Supplier Quality Management and Contract Management is required Physical Demands & Environmental/Working Conditions
May be required to travel for suppliers’ visits and qualification occasionally.
