Job description

Department: All Departments – WAFE
Location: Johor Bahru (Malaysia)
Reporting to: Integra / Maintenance Manager
Job Band: Competitive salary + benefits.

Job summary
The Role involves the Day-to-Day maintenance of, all WAFE’s infrastructure which includes but not limited to civil, electrical, and mechanical. Within the Factory there are 3 Production Departments (Cored Wire Production, Integra Workshop & Cored Electrode Production) and offices
For any work which is beyond our in-house capabilities, the ME (Maintenance Engineer) will be responsible for the sourcing and vetting of Maintenance Contractors. This will involve the review and assessment of quotations and the raising of Purchase requisitions to carry out this work.
Based on known equipment wear and tear (periodically replaced items), the ME will be expected to order and maintain a stock of spare parts to ensure that all equipment is kept at an optimum running condition.
All Maintenance work and replacement of parts must be recorded and documented on the appropriate ERP system.
 

Areas of responsibility
• Planning of all Maintenance Schedules. So as to ensure that there is no disruption to day-to-day activities, the ME will nominate other Maintenance personnel to carry out any scheduled work in his absence.
• Managing a group of maintenance technicians.
• Troubleshooting and fixing of any faults with machines and equipment.
• Health, Safety and Environment.
• The organizing and scheduling of periodic inspections of machines and equipment.
• The scheduling and carrying out of Planned Maintenance (so as not to disrupt Production).
• The maintaining of documented records for all maintenance work carried out.
• The liaison and communication with engineering personnel at other WA Group Companies (so as to obtain specialized information).
• Outsourcing spare/replacement parts and equipment.
• Continuous Maintenance Improvement to ensure that a downtime is minimized in all production departments.
• Carry out stock takes of consumable parts and equipment.
• Develop cost effective solutions to part/maintenance problems.

• Undergo Job training as and when required.
• Travel for commissioning/maintenance work (to other Companies) as and when required.
• To adapt to the new technologies such as Capital Asset Management, Activity based costing etc.
• To be able to communicate effectively in written and verbal form with everyone in organization.
• To follow and implement the local strategy in line with WA Group’s strategy.

Decision making authority
• Authority to make decisions inside own area of responsibility
• Management/Liaison with other Maintenance Personnel.
• Management/Liaison with outside Maintenance Contractors.

• Keeping good Documented Maintenance records which enable valid contributions to be made to
Activity Based Costing reviews.

Key competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities/ Attitude, Job-related Behaviour)
• Technical qualification in Electrical Engineering
• Knowledge in both Mechanical and Electrical engineering.
• Previous proven successful maintenance experience within a manufacturing business.
• Operations background and Hands-On approach.
• Demonstrated general business understanding.
• Proactive utilization of the existing resources.
• High organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Outgoing personality, to interact with internal and external customers at all levels.
• In the habit of working in a busy and complex environment, staying calm under pressure.
• Willingness and ability to travel to visit Group companies, and customers.
• Proficient in MS Office with knowledge of ERP systems.
• Good communication skills. Fluent in English is a must.

Main job / role (Customer, People, Finance, Process)
• Production
To deliver in full- and on-time maintenance services in-house. To ensure that all defined quality and maintenance protocols are followed, scheduled maintenance delivery dates for completion of work are met.
To be responsible for the receipt of all spare parts and ensure they meet the defined quality specifications. To ensure enough spare parts/consumables are held in stock to meet production needs.
To ensure the ERP system is maintained under your own area and utilized correctly. To ensure there is a system of continuous improvement in the maintenance processes and production capability.
• Finance
To be responsible for reducing maintenance costs and to ensure that the optimum level of equipment maintenance is achieved by:
o Controlling purchases and expenses.
o Supporting and maintaining the Global ERP Manufacturing system.
o Recording the Maintenance data on a regular basis.
• HSE
To be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees according to recognized Health & Safety Standards, and to ensure that employees have a healthy and safe environment in which to work.

Miscellaneous
Must be willing to work in Taman Gembira, JB (Malaysia), but also be prepared for occasional domestic and international travel.
